November 2024

The colder weather is here. Continue to use the ‘layering’ approach when getting your child dressed for school. Please label everything.

Good Deed Challenge

This month TRM students will learn about ‘good deeds’. Your child will be encouraged to do
something nice for someone outside of school in any way. On Friday, November 29th all Casa
and Elementary students are asked to bring this form completed to school to ‘Show and Tell’ to
their class. Some examples include but are not limited to, picking garbage up with an adult on
the Bruce Trail, volunteering somewhere, walking a neighbour’s dog.

Dress Down Day

Along with the Good Deed Challenge, on Friday November 29th, children are invited to come
to school ‘dressed down’. This will be an out of uniform day with no theme.

MS Read-a-Thon

This month Trail Ridge Students will be participating in the MS Read-a-Thon. Funds raised from
MS Read-a-Thon will help fund vital support services, like the 1:1 Peer Support Program. This
program connects people affected by MS living in your community with someone who can support them through their MS journey. The Peer Support Program is in huge demand and is important to making them feel less alone. To make sure everyone who needs support gets it, your help is urgently needed. There is now a fun, interactive website that lets kids track the books they read, download colouring pages and more. Fundraising has never been more fun. More information will follow in regards to this fundraiser so please watch your emails!

Before and After School Details

Just a reminder that the Before School Program is ‘drop in’ at both campuses. You are welcome to drop them off between 7:45am and 8:20am when needed. Miss Glassco will be there to welcome children at the Main Campus and Mrs Passmore will be there to welcome children at the Junior Campus.

For After Shool you need to sign up your child the week prior if you need to use the program. You sign up using the link on our website. The After School Program runs from 3:40pm until 5:00pm. Miss Soloman walks over the Main Campus after school children to the Junior Campus around 3:30pm and Miss Kate is waiting for them with the Junior Campus after school students, and she runs the program until 5:00pm. If you are picking up your child late (after 3:40pm) you will be charged for after school care even if you did not sign up.

Families who use the Before and/or After School Program are given an invoice 3 times throughout the year that can be paid via cash, or cheque.

A big thank you to all of the families who have been using the After School Program this year. Miss Kate has mentioned that no one has been late to pick up and the children are having a great time.

TRM Environment Goal:

Who will help us collect the following items for a Christmas Craft?
All Casa and Elementary Students are putting together a Christmas gift for their parents this term
and we would like to stay committed to our environmental goal with this task. We are not asking
every child to bring their own, we are asking if you have any of the following please recycle it
with us and if you have more than one, that is amazing. Please drop off (don’t go and buy it) to
your child’s teacher the following if you have it laying around your house before December 1st:

  • Regular and wide mother mason jars. We would like ones that are either 16 or 32 ounces
please. We do not need lids or rims please.
  • An old wreath or garland that you don’t like anymore.
  • Jute rope of any dimension.
  • Gently used Christmas gift bags and tissue paper. Please do not go and buy, we are recycling! If the bags could be small to medium in size that would be wonderful.

Last Months Fundraiser

In October, our Main Campus ran another successful European Cafe Day for the Casa & Elementary Program. It was such a nice event for all of the students and families and we were able to raise $750 for the GBF! Thank you for all of your tips and support.

Parent Education Night

We will have our first Parent Education Night on Tuesday, November 5th from 6-8pm. This is the Toddler Education Night and it will be held at our new Junior Campus (53 Ontario St). Thanks to all of the families who have replied, there is space for all of you! At this point we do not have any more space and we are at capacity. Just a reminder it is a wine and cheese event with childcare available for those who have indicated that they need it.

We welcome any feedback from parents who attended. Here is one reflection the administration received from last year’s parent education night.

Hi Ada,
We thought it was great! We were not really sure what it would be like before we went out but we
enjoyed it. My husband especially really liked getting to see the materials and how they are used.
He said he thought it was nice for people to see what they are paying for. I think it was great for
Casa parents who aren’t sure what they are going to do for Elementary and see the value of a
Montessori Education. Thanks again for the event.

Remembrance Day

On Monday, November 11th we will take time to teach the children, at their own levels, about the importance of peace and respect for others as our way of recognizing Remembrance Day. Please note, this will be a full tartan day (Tuesday and Thursday of this week will also be tartan days). There will be a Remembrance Day assembly at the Main Campus, hosted by Madame Abbas and Mrs Milanovic. The Casa 2 class from Junior Campus will walk over to Main Campus to participate in the assembly.
